Goodbye JPA?
Sometimes the bright, shiny, and new gets more love than the conventional, worn and stunningly successful.
If Juan Pablo Angel is available via trade they would at least acquire something. Losing him in either the Expansion Draft, or the Realloction Draft would show that this is the same old Red Bull.

I'd have to think they'd trade him.
This FO has seemed to be fairly solid so far, I’d be surprised if they let him walk for nothing.
2011 Wishlist:
Bobby V, John Hart, Javy Vazquez, Chone Figgins, Gerald Laird, Randy Choate, Jesse Crain
I think if you want to say your FO is solid
Then they better find a way to keep him, I trust what JPA has done in MLS much more than anyone else on your roster and if someone is dumb enough to think Medhi Ballouchy can fill those shoes, well they deserve to lose JPA and get stuck with a very unstable and mediocre Medhi.
I don’t think the rumored deal with New England will ever happen as a player getting up there a bit in age, I can’t see JPA wanting to play his whole home season on turf if he can avoid it. I know maybe you can trade him to Chicago for Ljungberg, he has killed two teams in 2010, maybe his hit list for 2011 can be even longer.
You can't argue with JPA's production
Thirteen goals and three assists is one hell of a statement. His set pieces are still excellent and that’s a hard skill to find in MLS.
Also, add in Schelotto as another veteran that isn’t getting the front office and coaching staff love that he really should. Eight goals and eight assists is more than solid production especially since he’s no longer making DP wages.
Lame
I guess its the way of the world, especially in soccer, but it still sucks. For someone like me, who started following this team in 06, he has been the entire show for most of that time, and easily the classiest player to bear the DP tag in league history.
It’s just a real shame that now that the team has finally had the acumen to put a group of players around him that have the talent to really contend (unlike in past seasons when they made unlikely runs with a cast of overacheivers,) the coach, who otherwise gets what it takes to play winning soccer, decides that he is surplus to requirements.
I agree with denz that if the FO is to be considered solid, they better figure out how to keep him. He has 61 goals in 107 games over four seasons. Who in MLS can match that pace? Medhi has looked decent, but he’s no JPA, and nothing he’s done lets you believe he will match the consistent excellence of the Colombian.
I hope now even more that he helps lead them to an MLS title, as that will be a just reward for all he’s done for the team, especially if they expect to drop him after this season.
Like to see him
Finish his career as a NYRB. He has said how excited he is about the new players on the team. There is a lot less pressure on him now, he still peppers the net with more shots than anyone else in the league. I hope he stays with the NYRB.
In Hank we trust.
