Amarikwa Training With the Bulls

Stay connected for news and updates

Missed in the whole designated player drama from yesterday, was that former Colorado Rapids forward Quincy Amarikwa is training with the Red Bulls.

The 24-year-old Amarikwa was dropped by the Rapids June 28. Amarikwa joined the Red Bulls July 8 and the next day scored the first goal in the Red Bulls-New England Revolution reserves match which ended in a draw.

Amarikwa -- if he signs -- would add depth up top, something the Red Bulls desperately need with Jhonny Arteaga, thus far, failing to live up to the potential he showed last season with former USL side FC New York.

Here's his strike from distance earlier this year against the Columbus Crew:

Here's another highlight reel from the former Rapid.

Whether or not this says anything about Luke Rodgers' situation remains to be seen. Early on this season, Hans Backe was fond of saying he needed four strikers over the course of a season.
