A Note As the Red Bulls Hobble into Chicago This Weekend: The Red Bulls Have Never Won in Toyota Park

Jeff Zelevansky

The Red Bulls aren't looking too good, and if history repeats itself this weekend, things won't be getting better any time soon.

The Red Bulls aren't looking too great.

After a shorthanded line-up got demolished by the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-1, the Red Bulls came out flying against the Colorado Rapidsonly to drop points thanks to, to put it diplomatically, a questionable penalty.

Sunday, they hobble into Toyota Park to take on the Chicago Fire, in the Fire's home opener. The very same Toyota Park where the Red Bulls have never won a game.

The Fire have called three stadia home in their 16 year history, Soldier Field, Cardinal Stadium, home of the Division III North Central College Cardinals, and Toyota Park, which opened in 2006 in nearby Bridgeview.

According to MetroFanatic's fanatical results log, the Red Bulls have lost eight times and drew three since the Fire began calling Toyota Park home. It's even worse when you go further back: The Red Bulls/MetroStars have only won twice against the Fire away from home.

So there it is, your pessimism for the week.
