In facing Toronto FC, the Red Bulls have a golden opportunity to take a huge step forward after their brutal start to the season. But it was Toronto who caused the rough start to the season in the first place with Sebastian Giovinco making mincemeat of the team in the final minutes to force a 0-2 home loss in the season opener.
Things got worse before they got better for the Red Bulls as they went 1-6 to start the season, scoring just five goals while giving up an average of two goals per game. But the 7-0 annihilation of NYC FC has the team riding high and in position to reclaim a top spot in MLS.
Here's the potential starting XI for May 28 vs Toronto:
GK: Luis Robles
DF: Sal Zizzo
DF: Aurelien Collin
DF: Chris Duvall
DF: Gideon Baah - Connor Lade needs some rest after being knocked around by the Fire and NYC this past week. Baah showed enough in his substitution minutes to warrant a start this week.
MF: Felipe
MF: Dax McCarty
MF: Lloyd Sam
MF: Mike Grella
MF: Sacha Kljestan
FW: Bradley Wright-Phillips
I'm just not sure if Alex Muyl or Gonzalo Veron are ready for a start despite their strong performances against NYC. However, there's no reason to think they won't get some minutes if the team is playing well in the second half again.
What do you think?
