Marquez explains comments (en espanol)
Rafa Marquez was a guest on Univision's Republica Deportiva this sunday, following NY's win over Portland without him. My Spanish is not so great, but he seems to blame being bood by the fans and there was a mention of something being lost in translation.
At any rate he apparently disavows the comments and the rest is standard pro athlete boilerplate, take it one game at a time etc.
New York signs Mike Jones
Red Bulls adding some depth, Jones is a left-footed defender.
"Fans expect goals, but I supply the crosses, I make the runs," Richards said. "I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing and not change anything. I wouldn’t say I’m happy, but the offense has played well, done some good things. And our star is scoring … Thierry [Henry] is scoring lots of goals. That’s a good sign for all of us."
David Trezeguet To Red Bulls?
A french paper is reporting that NYRB are in discussions to re-unite the former French striking pair
Rodgers calls Donovan a prick
Luke Rodgers had some choice words about Landon Donovan after the Red Bulls played the Galaxy. In my opinion Luke made a bit of an ass of himself...
"Teemu is still a question mark [for Saturday]," Backe said. "He’s still a little bit sore. We have to check him [on Friday]." -Hans Backe
Luke Rodgers and Marquez trained Thursday and are thought to be ready to go against the Galaxy. Marquez described Tainio as the "glue of the team"... apparently Rafa sees what we all see. Without Tainio the team looks ineffective and doesn't have good ball possession or movement.
Sweet Jebus that's bad defense
Watch the fourth goal (Weaver's). That is the most embarassing defense I've ever seen.
Ladies and Gentleman, I present to you MinoThierry Henry.
He looks a bit more like Satan than a bull... but I can only do so much. Hope you enjoy it.
MLS suspended the Rapids' midfielder 10 games today (nine plus the automatic game for a red card) and fined him $5,500 for a late challenge on Seattle's Steve Zakuani, who fractured his fibia and tibia as a result. Afterward, Mullan apologized for the "freak" accident but said "he'd probably do it again."
Agudelo gets Goal of the Week Honor
You'll be hard-pressed to find a prettier goal. There's only Juan Agudelo! His only other goal this season was good for week 1's goal of the week.
