The United States Soccer Federation announced on Monday that Red Bull Arena will host its first US Men's National Team match on October 11 at 7 PM, as the USA takes on Ecuador. The pre-eminent football stadium in the country had been overlooked for several recent friendlies, but the USSF finally came to their senses and awarded this key tune-up for the 2014 World Cup qualification process to the Cathedral of Football.
This will be Ecuador's second visit to the New York area in recent months after a 1-1 draw against Greece in front of almost 40,000 fans at Citi Field in Queens. The match will come just a few days after their first 2014 World Cup qualifier, a home clash against rising stars Venezuela.
The US, who have yet to win under new head coach Jürgen Klinsmann will travel up to Red Bull Arena for the Tuesday clash at Red Bull Arena after facing Honduras in Miami on the previous Saturday. Red Bulls' regulars Tim Ream and Juan Agudelo could both feature, although the Colombian-born striker is certainly the more likely of the two to get playing time.
Tickets for the match will go on sale September 17, after a pre-sale window for Red Bulls Season Ticket Holders.
