In a little bit, the 2013 MLS SuperDraft is set to start. The Red Bulls don't pick until the second round, but with the midfield so thin, they might just be able to find a Tim Ream or Ryan Meara with the 22nd pick.
To get you ready to wait through the entire first round (plus to picks) to see who the Red Bulls might take, here's a handy list of links to get you primed.
Of course, you can watch the draft here. I'll be tweeting a bit about it, too.
Want some insight into the Red Bulls' draft strategy? Interim Head Coach Mike Petke told Empire of Soccer the draft is getting thin thanks to the league's revised homegrown player rule. Petke also made an appearance on Seeing Red to talk draft strategy and told Big Apple Soccer about his "Plan A" and "Plan B." MLSsoccer.com says the Red Bulls need midfield "clarity."
Mock drafts? We got 'em. Things might have changed with the New England Revolution moving up to get the first pick in the draft, but it's still interesting to see how MLS watchers assess each team's needs. At SBNation, we did ours here. We have the Red Bulls taking Providence College midfielder Marc Cintron with the 22nd pick.
SoccerByIves mock draft has the Red Bulls taking Georgetown defensive midfielder Ian Christianson, a pick he's held steady with over the course of several mock drafts. The official MLSsoccer.com FINAL mock draft has two guys who were early favorites to go in the first round falling to the Red Bulls. They also did a Google+ Hangout draft, but they don't go into the second round, so it might just be a good place to get your Simon Borg fix.. Their penultimate mock draft can be seen here.
Player rankings? Here are two official ones from MLS, one of attacking midfielders and one of left midfielders. Top Drawer Soccer updated their 125 player "big board" yesterday.
