Friday, Jonny Steele got to fulfill a lifelong dream, coming on in the 67th minute to earn his first ever cap for Northern Ireland in their 1-0 loss to Turkey.
It wasn't the most eventful of performances, but, as we've noted before, it's a great story and a well-earned cap.
Last night, quite a bit further south, Tim Cahill came on for Australia in the 52nd minute in the Socceroo's game against Costa Rica and 17 minutes later he headed home the winner.
The goal brought Cahill level with Damian Mori for Australia's all-time leading scoring mark. The win was also a welcome respite for the Aussies. After getting demolished by both Brazil and France before beating Canada, the Socceroos needed a confidence boost and it must help that it came against fellow World Cup goer Costa Rica.
