Mix Diskerud Visits Jersey City School, So He's Totally Coming to the Red Bulls

It's happening, you guys.

Jonathan Daniel

So that happened Tuesday.

Anyway, this will school visit will inevitably touch off some speculation on some corner of the internet that Mikkel Diskerud, the Rosenborg BK and USMNT midfielder, is headed to the Red Bulls.

That probably won't happen. But it's fun to think about, right?

In this fantasy world, Diskerud would fill in admirably in lieu of Xabi Alonso, who is reportedly inking a new deal with Real Madrid. The 23-year-old Norwegian-American could fill in a similar role for less money and without taking up an international slot.

Diskerud was a target of the Portland Timbersbut that move didn't end up happening thanks to the league's roster rules. Things seemed to work out well for them, as they signed Newcomer of the Year Diego Valeri in his place.

Those rules haven't changed, so it's unlikely Diskerud has changed his mind.
