Red Bulls Set to Enter Open Cup May 28

The dates for the Open Cup have been announced, and MLS teams will enter May 28.

It's almost time again for the most criminally underrated sporting events in the U.S., the Open Cup.

Today, U.S. Soccer announced the draw for the 100th edition of the cup.

May 7 the NPSL's Georgia Revolution will play the USSSA's Colorado Rovers and the NPSL's FC Hasental and U.S. Club Soccer's Fresno Fuego Future will play play-in games, for the right to join USASA, PDL, select USL squads and other NPSL teams -- the Red Bulls' U-23 squad included -- in the first round May 14.

A week later, the remaining USL teams and NASL sides will enter and May 28, American MLS teams will join the tournament.

There are some changes to this year's tournament, which you can read about here, but most notably, there will be an increase in prize money and randomized hosting, so no more righteous indignation about the tournament like last year.
