Sky Blue FC, the National Women's Soccer League team based out of New Brunswick, N.J., could be joining up with the Red Bulls as early as next year.
Equalizer Soccer reports that the NWSL team, currently third in the league with 34 points, will start negotiating a partnership with the Red Bulls, with eyes to 2014. If it all works out, Equalizer says Sky Blue will likely start playing home games at Red Bull Arena, instead of Rutgers University's Yurcak Field. The team tweeted the story this morning.
Sky Blue wouldn't be the only team with MLS backing. The Portland Thorns are owned by Merritt Paulson, who brought the Portland Timbers into the league.
