It's been a quiet transfer window for the Red Bulls, especially by their standards, but they didn't finish it up without making a move.
This afternoon, the Red Bulls inked Australian international David Carney to a deal, pending a physical and a visa. Like the move for Bradley Wright-Phillips, it looks to be one for depth, as Carney can play either full back or midfield. Carney and Wright-Phillips join Ibrahim Sekagya as the Red Bulls' summer moves.
I'd also venture to guess he's the first Red Bull to ever wear the shirt after gracing the pitches of the Uzbekistan Professional Soccer League after a stint with Bunyodkor PFK last year. He last trialed with Blackpool of the English Championship. He started his career in the Everton youth ranks and suited up for Australia in the 2010 World Cup.
Some highlights for your viewing pleasure...
If anything, it'll give Tim Cahill a fellow countryman in case he's feeling a bit homesick. Also, for Carney's sake, New York's a lot better than Uzbekistan.
