McCarty's Goal of the Year contender is this magnificent chip from 20 yards (ish), scored against the New England Revolution.

And who is RBNY's most likely opponent in the next round of the 2014 playoffs? The Revs.

So cast a vote for appreciation of what was and hope for what might be: it took a special effort for RBNY to beat the Revs the last time the teams met. And that was a fragile New England side, which was staggering out of an eight-game losing streak.

The more recent iteration of the Revs is the one that won nine of its last 12 regular-season games, and started its post-season by trouncing the Crew in Columbus.

So vote for the goal that turned the tide when RBNY last played New England. All the goals in Grpup 7 of the GotY second round have something to recommend them, but only one foreshadows the likely contest for the Eastern Conference's berth in MLS Cup.
