The Red Bulls just keep filling out their pre-season schedule.
Earlier this week, they announced a closed-door scrimmage against the University of South Florida, a match-up set for tomorrow, and today, the Red Bulls announced their first, legitimate pre-season game. Next Wednesday, they'll take on the Philadelphia Union in Jacksonville's Everbank Field next Wednesday.
The match is sandwiched between their return to New York for the weekend, and the start of the Disney Pro Soccer Classic, set to being Feb. 19 with a game against Sporting Kansas City.
No word on whether this game will be televised or streamed or otherwise broadcast.
Additionally, there's no word on who, exactly, is putting the match on, though Jacksonville's connections to soccer run deeper than many would expect. In addition to hosting the well-attended United States-Scotland friendly, a 5-1 win for the Americans. The Jacksonville Jaguars, who call Everbank Field home, are owned by Shahid Khan, who bought Fulham over the summer.
And finally, an NASL side is set to begin play in Jacksonville in 2015. They don't have a name or, really, anything yet, but you get free Red Bulls-Union tickets by buying season tickets. Former MetroStars and Red Bulls goalkeeper Tony Meola was in the running for the team's head coaching gig, too, but that fell through.
