It's been a while since I posted some predictions, but we're back with predictions for the upcoming match at Toronto FC. Every game during the 2014 New York Red Bulls season will be predicted by Jason Iapicco, Matt Coyne, Tim Dean, Austin Fido, and Red Bull Rant co-hosts Patrick MacDonald, and Truman. We'll be tracking how well we do, awarding points for each prediction. For each game, 1 point will be awarded for correctly predicting a Win, Loss, or Draw; and 2 points for a correct score prediction. Let's take a look at predictions for the upcoming game.
Date: May 17, 2014
Opponent: Toronto FC
Stadium: BMO Field
TV: MSG+
Kick Off: 4:30 pm Eastern
Matt Coyne: 2-2 Draw
Toronto is sliding, losing their last three. The Red Bulls were victimized simultaneously by a bad day at the office on Luis Robles' part and the Chicago Fire's Harrison Shipp. Only one of those, though, is a trend and that's Toronto's losing skid. The other is (hopefully) an aberration. It's going to be tough to out gun the new look Toronto FC in their own building, so I don't expect them to. The Red Bulls will be able to grab a point, however.
Tim Dean: 1-1 Draw
Bad defense abounds! Also some sitting back paired with players unwilling to get hurt before the World Cup makes for a boring affair.
Austin Fido: 2-2 Draw
A bumpy pitch. The best pure finisher in the league on current form vs. one of the best pure finishers of his generation (in England at least). Two very unreliable defenses. You see where this is going?
