The New York Red Bulls opened up Red Bull Arena for the first US World Cup game. Around 2,500 fans showed up to watch the United States take on Ghana in a thrilling 2-1 win. You'll find a lot of reaction videos to the US win, but where else will you find a pitch invasion?
Hopefully the Red Bulls open up RBA again on Sunday, June 22nd, when the US take on Portugal. The US are in a prime position to secure passage to the knockout round after Portugal lost their first match 4-0 to Germany. A win and Ghana Loss or Draw would secure the US' qualification for the knockout stage.
The current Group G standings are:
Team | Pld | W | D | L | GF | GA | GD | Pts |
Germany | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 4 | 0 | +4 | 3 |
United States | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 1 | +1 | 3 |
Ghana | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 2 | −1 | 0 |
Portugal | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 4 | −4 | 0 |
EDIT: The Red Bulls have posted a video of reactions to John Brooks' game winning goal.
