Connor Lade made his New York Cosmos debut over the weekend in a 1-0 loss to the Carolina Railhawks.
But his night ended early thanks to a separated shoulder suffered in a collision just before the hour mark.
Lade -- who made a big impression in 2012, but has had a hard time cracking the New York Red Bulls' line-up since -- was set to participate in tonight's Homegrown Game in Oregon against the Portland Timbers' U23 squad, but his injury will keep him home.
A bit of serendipity, then, that Matt Miazga was red carded in the Red Bulls' comeback win over the New England Revolution Saturday. Since Miazga, whose game clearly needs some polish, won't be playing in the upcoming game against the Chicago Fire, he'll head west for the game in Lade's place.
