On Friday, September 26, while RBNY was still frolicking on the beaches of California, and before the Calamity in Carson, Ambroise Oyongo (who missed out on the Galaxy game due to injury) received some good news: another call-up for his country.
Predictably, Cameroon head coach Volker Finke has opted to reach for much the same group of players that won the Indomitable Lions six points from their opening two qualifiers for January's Africa Cup of Nations.
That means another chance for Oyongo to further his reputation and further his claim to be a key part of Cameroon's new-look national team.
Assuming his injury is not so persistent as to force him to decline the call-up, Oyongo will be unavailable for RBNY's match against Toronto FC on October 11 (and if he is a longer-term injury than suspected, he would miss that game anyway).
The Indomitable Lions will play Sierra Leone twice: on October 11 and October 15; both games will be played in Cameroon, due to continuing concerns about the outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa.
Assuming RBNY has managed to get Oyongo the right sort of visa, he should be back in the US and available for selection for RBNY's 10/19 home game against Columbus Crew.
