Do MLS contracts typically include bonuses for shutouts? Because the way RBNY has been playing this season, it almost feels like Papa Red Bull is invested in keeping Luis Robles from claiming whatever incentives are in his contract for clean sheets.
He had another big game for the Red Bulls against Sporting Kansas City, and another game in which his defenders abandoned him once too often and the shutout bonus went away. Still, RBNY won. And it wouldn't have won without Robles.
He's up for MLS save of the week again:
An impartial observer might look at that selection and wonder whether Jon Busch's save wasn't perhaps just a tad better. Point of information: Busch is from Queens.
Joe Bendik's wasn't bad either - he was born in Huntington, NY. That's about 30 minutes away from where Mike Petke was born.
Oh - and RBNY happens to be the only team represented by the nominees that won this week.
It's a sign: this week's best save needs to go to New York.
Make it happen. Vote Robles.
