Bulls Abroad: Tim Cahill nominated for Australian Institute of Sport 2014 Sport Personality of the Year Award

RBNY's famous Australian is up for another award...

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Tim Cahill is still a New York Red Bull, still in Australia, and still a big deal in his home country.

The latest accolade to be delivered to him by his nation is a nomination for the Australian Institute of Sport's 2014 Sport Personality of the Year.

Cahill is up against cricketer Mitchell Johnson, basketball pro Patty Mills, swimmer Cate Campbell, snowboarder Torah Bright, surfer Sally Fitzgibbons, and marathoner Kurt Fearnley. Read there stories here.

The award is determined by public vote, open to all: so vote Cahill!

Voting runs through January, so Cahill is likely to find his candidacy gets a boost when and if he is able to deliver significantly to Australia's performance in this month's Asian Cup.

The vote closes on February 1st, which is also roughly the time we expect Cahill to announce whatever it is he has planned for his club career in 2015. (Though, if he is working out a move away from RBNY, the rumor mill will doubtless alert us in advance.)

Until then, vote for RBNY's 2013 MVP to be, in effect, Australia's 2014 MVP.
