Tim Cahill scored twice to lead Australia to a 2-0 win over China in the 2015 Asian Cup quarterfinals.
The first goal - which arrived in the 48th minute - will join Cahill's strike against the Netherlands in the 2014 World Cup on his all-time highlight reel. Australia's all-time top scorer (he's now got 39 goals for his country) essayed an overhead kick from inside the box that squirted to the far corner of the net.
Australia's semifinal opponent will be either Japan (the team that has knocked the Socceroos out of the past two Asian Cups) or United Arab Emirates - depending on the outcome of the quarterfinal to be played on January 23.
The next match for the Socceroos will be on January 27, which is convenient because Tim Cahill may need a moment to absorb the consequences of having posted a career highlight on home soil in arguably the biggest soccer tournament ever hosted in Australia.
