Australia defeated South Korea, 2-1, in the final of the AFC Asian Cup. In a match requiring extra time to determine the champion, James Troisi scored in the 105th minute to put the tournament hosts ahead for good. Massimo Luongo put Australia in the lead, 1-0, in the 45th minute. Son Heung-min scored in the 91st minute to tie the game and force extra time.
With the win, Australia is now qualified for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.
Tim Cahill was subbed out in the 67th minute for Tomi Juric who assisted on Troisi's winner.
