Lloyd Sam is among the top 10 scorers of all time for the New York Red Bulls (sort of)

Well done, Lloyd.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The last week or so has been pretty good for Lloyd Sam. He scored a sensational match-winner for the New York Red Bulls to help the team push into its last three games of the year in pole position for regular-season silverware. And he received an international call-up from the Ghana national team - no small feat when you consider the star-studded player pool the Black Stars can draw from (though a smaller feat when you acknowledge many of those stars aren't in the current squad).

Today, October 13, is the day Sam could make his senior international soccer debut. It is a day to celebrate Lloyd Sam. Fortunately, he gave us a career highlight to savor the last time we saw him play:

Magnificent goal. Also, Sam's 23rd in all competitions for the New York Red Bulls. And only nine players have ever scored more in a career for the club. Sam is one of the top 10 all-time, all-competitions goal scorers for RBNY!

Sort of. He's tied with two other players (Mike Magee and Dane Richards) on 23 career goals for the club. So he's more like top 12, all-time. But since there are only nine players with more than 23 goals for RBNY, he's also top 10!

Congrats, Lloyd! And best of luck with Ghana.
