In winning the 2015 Supporters' Shield, the New York Red Bulls won 18 regular season matches: a new club record for single-season wins in MLS. No surprise, therefore, that Luis Robles - the goalkeeper who started every one of RBNY's 34 league games this year - has broken his own club record (set in 2013: the first time the Red Bulls' won the Shield) for single-season league wins.
But Robles, who continues to accumulate club records with the same steadiness that characterizes his play, also played in RBNY's US Open Cup campaign this season. He backstopped a couple of wins in that competition too. All told, he has played in 20 RBNY wins so far this year. Robles is the first 'keeper in club history to reach 20 wins in all competitions in a single season. (He is also the first 'keeper to win two Supporters' Shields with RBNY.)
Well done, Luis. And very much hoping you extend your single-season wins record in the near future.
