On Sunday, November 8th, the New York Red Bulls will take on D.C. United in the second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Before the game though, the Garden State Ultras supporter group will be holding a clothing drive in support of the Covenant House of Newark with their "Scarves Up!" event. Here is what GSU has to say about their event.
This Sunday November 8th we will be collecting coats and scarves for the Covenant House of Newark. So if you have any old scarves (soccer or non) and coats that you can donate, please bring them down to Bellos on Sunday before kick off. We will have a box to collect everything. It's getting cold out there and we want to make sure our streets are warm for a potential cold winter.
So come on down to Bellos Pub in Newark and help the Ultras give back to our city/community! Cheers!!!
Here is a description of Covenant House from their website.
Since 1989, Covenant House New Jersey has been providing food, shelter, immediate crisis care, and an array of other important services to homeless, runaway and trafficked youth between the ages of 18-21.
GSU has added that the clothing will be donated in support of young adults between the ages of 18 and 24. If you would like to donate, stop by Bellos before the match and drop off some clothes. Bellos Pub is located on Market Street near Newark Penn Station.
