Sky Blue FC took a big step in strengthening their front office by naming long-time sports executive Herm Sorcher its new Vice President of Business Development.
Sorcher will manage the overall business strategy for Sky Blue FC, including ticket, sponsor and marketing initiatives.
"Herm brings us a great deal of experience and proven success, and we are excited to add someone of his expertise to our staff," said Tony Novo, Sky Blue FC President & General Manager. "As a club, we are looking to take Sky Blue FC to the next level, and Herm is the type of individual who can assist us in that mission. He has already had a very positive impact on our organization, and we look forward to what the future holds with Herm now part of the team."
A native of Freehold, N.J., Sorcher brings over 25 years of sports marketing experience to Sky Blue FC. After beginning his career with the Hartford Whalers of the National Hockey League in 1989, he then spent 17 seasons with a variety of teams in Minor League Baseball. He was next hired in 2008 as the VP of Sales & Marketing for the Eastern Professional Hockey League before taking over as CEO & Managing Ownership Partner for the Danbury Whalers of the upstart Federal Hockey League (FHL) in 2009.
During his time in that position, the Whalers led the league in attendance for five consecutive seasons and won the championship in the 2012-13 season. Additionally, he was named the Founders Award recipient following its 2010-11 season as the FHL's most outstanding executive.
"I am thrilled to be joining Sky Blue FC," Sorcher remarked. "It is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a group that is beyond passionate about the game. I am looking forward to meeting the fans and working with them to get the stadium rocking this season."
