When MetLife Stadium was opened in 2010, no one expected much soccer would be played there as Red Bull Arena had opened and took the New York Red Bulls with it. Now, the stadium will be play host to the final of one of the biggest international tournaments.
The 2016 Copa America Centenario is a special edition of Copa America that will feature teams all ten countries from CONMEBOL, and six from CONCACAF, including the United States. The tournament will run from June 3rd to the 26th, with the ultimate match being held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
MetLife isn't a stranger to soccer matches, having hosted the United States, Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil in the past. The 82,000 stadium will host the final, but may host other matches as well. The full schedule of dates and host sites will be made public tomorrow, December 17th. For more information on the tournament, you can visit ca2016.com.
