USF was taken to school today by the Red Bulls, 4-0. The team decided to release the highlights in heavily edited Instagram videos instead of a full highlight video, so... have fun.
Bradley Wright-Phillips opened the scoring in the 12th minute off an assist from new signing Sal Zizzo.
Trialist Mike Grella scored in the 17th minute courtesy of a Dax McCarty assist.
Sal Zizzo scored his own goal off a Lloyd Sam assist in the 24th minute.
Cameroonian trialist Anatole Abang opened his preseason account finishing off a Manolo Sanchez feed in the 58th minute.
Here are Marsch's quotes on the match via Jeff Crandall at NewYorkRedBulls.com.
"We're setting new standards here. We're trying to redefine what the commitment to each other means. I want them in this moment, while we're building this anew. We want to make sure the commitment to each other, to compete on the field, move with each other, to have each other's backs when mistakes get made, are in place.
"The guys understood how we wanted to play today. They went out on the field and put the plan in place. There's still plenty to work on--there's no doubt about that--but there are plenty of positive sides as well.
Last year the Red Bulls lost to USF, 2-0. The team was able to recover from this near fatal blow and eventually reach the Eastern Conference Finals. With today's success all fans should expect the team to win MLS Cup, go undefeated, and invent a car that runs on the power of love.
