Just one game into the regular season, just one goal and one point for the New York Red Bulls, but the players have racked TWO nominations for the efforts in MLS's first week of action.
Lloyd Sam is up for Goal of the Week. (Vote for him!)
And Luis Robles, is up for Save of the Week. Vote for him!
Robles made 103 saves in the 2013 regular season, off 147 shots: the third-highest number of saves from the joint-third highest number of shots faced in the league that year. In 2014, he made 111 saves off 171 shots: joint-second highest number of saves off the second highest number of shots faced by any 'keeper in the regular season.
He's been busy for RBNY. The opening game of 2015 brought him four more shots to face, of which he saved three - and there wasn't much he could do about Ike Opara's point-blank header. But he handled Seth Sinovic's knuckling drive through traffic with characteristic efficiency.
