You voted! And it didn't quite work out, but at least we have something to build on for the next time one of the New York Red Bulls is up for some MLS recognition.
Lloyd Sam's rocket against Sporting Kansas City in Week 1 finished second to Seattle's fluid counter attack against New England Revolution.
But the margin was pretty close: Clint Dempsey's goal won Goal of the Week with 38.7% of the vote; Sam picked up 31.07%. A relatively close second against a candidate boosted by Seattle's immense and disciplined online voting machine is creditable. Good effort! Next time, we'll make it count.
Luis Robles didn't fair quite so well.
Nick Rimando is sort of a one-man Seattle when it comes to winning online votes powered by MLS fans, and he was nominated for a very good save: he won Save of the Week with 36.35% of the vote. Tyler Deric's performance against Columbus attracted near universal praise from league observers: he was second with 29.41%. Luis finished third, with 14.22%. Creditable.
RBNY's bye week means fans will be free from any pestering for votes in either competition next week. Keep those fingers fighting fit for Week 3!
