Bulls Abroad: CanMNT calls up Karl Ouimette

Ouimette is the second Red Bull to get called up for March friendlies

Following in Dane Richards' footsteps, newly added New York Red Bulls defenseman, Karl Ouimette, has been called up to the Canadian National Team for the upcoming FIFA window. Canada will be considered the hosts when they take on Guatemala on March 27th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, then travel to Puerto Rico on March 30th for their second tie.

Ouimette has earned 6 caps for CanMNT at the ripe age of 22.  To start off 2015, Canada played two friendlies against Iceland in Orlando, FL, losing the first, then earning a draw three days later.  Les Rouges have only won one game since October 2012 (3-1 over Jamaica in September 2014).  Their record over that time period has been 1-7-13 (W-D-L).

Head coach Benito Floro has slowly been building young talent. He has called up a total of nine MLS players for the two upcoming games.  Hopefully this will be the year they can put it all together and advance to the knockout round during this summer's Gold Cup.  The last time they made it to the quarterfinals was in 2009 when they won their group, but then were subsequently knocked out by Honduras.
