After a successful first run at left back against D.C. United, New York Red Bulls new addition Kemar Lawrence has been called up to the Jamaica National team for its two March friendlies.
Lawrence replaced the injured Roy Miller in the starting lineup against DC and made an immediate impact. His hard nosed style of play threw off DCU attackers all game and helped the team earn their first clean sheet of the season.
Lawrence was expected to join teammate Dane Richards with the Reggae Boys and be the fourth RBNY player to leave for international duty during the March FIFA window. But after the DC game, in which Richards made the first appearance of his second stint with RBNY, the veteran winger advised he had turned down his country's call.
"Taxi" Lawrence has registered two goals through 16 caps with Jamaica. This one was special:
Jamaica will play Venezuela on March 27th and Cuba on 3/30.
