More New York Red Bulls II players announced

More players! More players! More players!

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

USL released its official preview of New York Red Bulls II.

There are some new names on it: Rafael Diaz, Dan Metzger, Franklin Castellanos, and Juan Sebastian Sanchez.

  • Diaz (Rockaway, New Jersey) is a keeper who had a standout collegiate career with St. John's and spent last season with Orlando City in USL.
  • Metzger (Holmdel, New Jersey) is a midfielder who was as star at Maryland, garnering plenty of accolades after a standout youth career with the New York Red Bulls Academy. He is currently with the US U-23 National Team. Metzger was drafted by D.C. United (boo!), but did not sign with the club.
  • Castellanos (Dover, New Jersey) is a midfielder who while at Iona was named the 2013 Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He played with the New York Red Bulls U-23s in 2014 and took home the NPSL Championship.
  • Sanchez (Ossining, New York) is a striker who would presumably take one of the club's Academy spots before matriculating to the University of Tulsa in the fall. He has spent time with the US U-18 National Team and trained with the New York Red Bulls in Florida.

The official New York Red Bulls II roster has yet to be released, but one expects there will be more players on it.
