Bulls Abroad: Kemar Lawrence starts in Jamaica's 2-1 win over Venezuela

Taxi Lawrence's first appearance for Jamaica as a member of the New York Red Bulls.

Kemar Lawrence went the full 90 minutes in his first appearance for Jamaica as a Red Bull: a 2-1 win over Venezuela in Montego Bay.

"Taxi" now has 17 caps for his country, as he looks to nail down a starting spot for the Reggae Boyz either for June's Copa America or July's Gold Cup (Jamaica has a busy summer schedule and may field what is effectively two squads to manage its commitments to two competitions).

In a home match presumably scheduled to help Jamaica gain experience of playing CONMEBOL opposition ahead of the summer's Copa America, the Reggae Boyz traded early goals with Venezuela before Vancouver Whitecaps' Darren Mattocks scored what proved to be the winner in the second half. Houston Dynamo's Giles Barnes scored Jamaica's first goal on his international debut.

Lawrence and Jamaica welcome a CONCACAF opponent for their next match: against Cuba in Montego Bay on March 30.
