Word out of Italy is that Stefano Bonomo, the New York Red Bulls' second pick of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft (39th overall) has fetched up at Societa Polisportiva Ars et Labor 2013, or SPAL as the Italian third tier club is known to its friends.
Bonomo is on trial for a team that has scored three goals in its last six league games (from February 8 to March 1) and won none of them. So he might have a shot at playing this season if he can impress.
Italy is, we believe, the third European stop for the Red Bulls' runaway draft pick, who celebrated his selection by RBNY with a sprint to Poland to try out for Miedz Legnica. He didn't do enough for a contract, and was said to have headed to England (specifically Sheffield) for another trial, though confirmation of that news never arrived - despite our man Lester Townsend's indefatigable efforts to track him down.
And now he is in Ferrara, Italy.
Best of luck, Stefano. Hope this one works out for you.
