NYRB II to play matches at Columbia University

NYRB II's second home, although known, has been officially announced.

Starting on May 17, NYRB II will play their matches at Columbia University's Baker Athletic Complex.

The Red Bulls announced on Mar. 30 the move to the Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium, within the Baker Field complex. Dave Martinez at Empire of Soccer reported back in February of the move's possibility.

Baker Field is located on 533 W. 218 Street in Manhattan, and is a 3,500 seat facility with a field turf field. The stadium is much smaller than Red Bull arena, which is where NYRB II will play its first few home matches, and is within a short walking distance from the 215th street station on the 1 train.

"Columbia has welcomed us with open arms," said Red Bulls II General Manager Shaun Oliver said in a club statement.

"It provides our team with a great facility and a chance for our fans to see us play in a more intimate setting. We look forward to Columbia being a home away from home for New York Red Bulls II."

I look forward to watching many more NYRB II matches. They are streamed on YouTube and on the New York Red Bulls website.
