Bolu Akinyode signs with New York Red Bulls II

Another RBNY academy graduate has completed the journey to a pro contract within the Red Bulls' development system.

The New York Red Bulls II have announced the signing of Red Bull academy and Seton Hall alum, Bolu Akinyode. He joins fellow academy-and-Seton-Hall grads, Victor Manosalvas and Konrad Plewa, on the USL team's roster.

Per the club's official release, Akinyode might be spotted as soon as 7:30 pm Eastern on the day he turned pro: NYRB II is is playing Charleston Battery on April 18, and the team is suggesting Akinyode traveled for the game.

His college highlight reel suggests a midfielder who isn't afraid of a little contact and favors his left foot.

In addition to playing for RBNY's academy and reserve teams, Akinyode reportedly has some Nigeria youth national team experience (he was born in Lagos) and got a look from Tab Ramos for the US U-20s back in 2012.

He is the twelfth player to agree professional terms with NYRB II (the balance of the roster being made up of loanees from RBNY's MLS squad and a selection of current academy players who have retained their amateur status).

Update: thanks to @Red_Bullazo, who passed on this clip with the advice that the wonder-strike in question was set up by a pass from Akinyode.
