Bradley Wright-Phillips finishes fourth in MLS Player of the Month vote for March

Snubbed for Goal of the Week in Week 3, and now snubbed for Player of the Month at the first attempt. BWP is in mid-season form with regard to MLS awards.

Surprised us too, Octavio. Congrats though - helluva scoring streak you had going there.

The first MLS Player of the Month vote is concluded and the winner is...Octavio Rivero of the Vancouver Whitecaps?

Congratulations, Mr. Rivero. And congratulations Vancouver fans, so often the overlooked part of MLS's Cascadia contingent.

Rivero squeaked by Kaka in the online poll: he won 26.6% of the vote; the Brazilian's 22.4 million Twitter followers hint at a fan base surely every bit as capable of making its presence felt on the internet as MLS's fervent Cascadians, but Kaka mustered just 26.2% of total ballots cast.

As for the New York Red Bulls' contender...well, Bradley Wright-Phillips is no stranger to a snub in MLS. He picked up 15.8% of votes, which put him fourth overall - ahead of FCD's Blas Perez (12.3%) but behind KC's Ike Opara (19%).

Next time, RBNY fans. We'll give the next Red Bull up for this vote a better showing next time.

Until then, take out your frustrations on all the other votes featuring RBNY players this week. Because there are still a few polls open.

VOTE FOR MIKE GRELLA! (Urgent: MLS claims it's "neck and neck" and the vote closes at 11:59 pm Pacific Time on Thursday, April 2.)

VOTE FOR LUIS ROBLES! (This one also closes at 11:59 pm Pacific Time on Thursday, April 2. Make it third-time lucky for Luis!)

VOTE FOR DAMIEN PERRINELLE! (French speaking player of the month! Damien is from France! He speaks French very well. He's also been the guy holding RBNY's defense together in the midst of its current new-absentee-every-week phase.)
