Reports out of Spain suggest Valencia, is on the verge of finalizing an agreement to play the New York Red Bulls in a friendly this summer. The match would be hosted by RBNY, at Red Bull Arena in Harrison.
Per the report from AS, Los Che have been getting close to Papa Red Bull in recent months, agreeing to participate in a friendly tournament with Brother Salzburg, as part of ongoing discussions between the Spanish club and Papa. Those discussions are characterized as a potential "partnership" by Inside Spanish Football.
Whether any partnership involves more than the occasional mutually beneficial scrimmage is another detail we hope to see revealed in due course.
No date has yet been set for the alleged friendly, and we expect to hear details of RBNY's involvement in the International Champions Cup later this week (April 28, to be precise). So it could be a busy summer for international visitors at Red Bull Arena.
UPDATE: Or not. Empire of Soccer reports a source inside RBNY saying the friendly is "unlikely". And that report was swiftly followed by further confirmation:
Can confirm @EmpireOfSoccer's report regarding a reported #RBNY friendly against #Valencia. RBNY team spokesman says it's "Not happening"

Perhaps more pertinently, the EoS piece appears to confirm the suggestion from Spanish media that there is an effort underway to create a formal relationship between Valencia and Papa Red Bull's global soccer interests. As such, EoS reports RBNY has a "door open" for Los Che to schedule a fixture for next season.
