The New York Red Bulls were able to pull a goal back in the second half to tie the LA Galaxy 1-1 on Sunday evening. RBNY dominated the possession percentages - 61-39 - but LA was able to score on their only good opportunity in the first half. The Red Bulls kept the pressure high and were able to make things even later in the game.
The Red Bulls had a low-to-modest fantasy effort as most of the starting lineup only grabbed 2 or 3 points. Here are their top performers of the night:
Felipe Martins (MID, 9 points): Martins is the Red Bulls' top point-getter for the second week in a row. Martins happened to be in the right place at the right time when a blocked BWP shot hit him in the head and went in the goal. He contributed an additional bonus point on each the offensive and defensive ends and was RB's most consistent player all game.
Sacha Kljestan (MID, 5 points): Kljestan's performance was similar to Martins, but he racked up an additional bonus point on the attacking end of the field. He had great runs from the midfield to give BWP scoring chances, but couldn't convert. He and Martins have picked up the slack a bit since it seems Dax McCarty has been a bit off the last two games.
Damien Perrinelle (DEF, 4 points): Perrinelle did his job for the most part all night. Nothing flashy to earn more fantasy points, but his header in the first half almost converted to a tally for the home team. He led the back four who were able to keep Alan Gordon and Gyasi Zardes off the board.
The Red Bulls will have a short week to prepare for the visiting Colorado Rapids on Wednesday night. We will see if they can continue their non-losing ways.
