You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Fair to say, therefore, that it was important for the two sides of the inaugural Hudson River Derby to put their best foot forward.
The players did their part. And the fans also turned up intent on leaving their mark on the occasion. For the New York Red Bulls' supporters in the South Ward, that meant a suitable welcome for those intrepid NYC FC fans able to conquer their fears and make the arduous trip to Harrison.

A win for RBNY on the field and in the stands. Next time we see NYC FC, it will doubtless be a little tougher to win either battle. But the first impression has been made.
