RBNY MLS Fantasy Week 10 Recap: BWP, Lloyd Sam & Sacha Kljestan

RBNY takes historic Round 1 of Hudson River Derby against NYCFC

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Red Bulls started red hot, then were able to dictate most of the pace throughout the game to beat New York City FC 2-1 in front of a sold out crowd at Red Bull Arena Sunday night.  Bradley Wright-Phillips scored a brace, but the team has lost Matt Miazga for the foreseeable future due to his red card and U20 World Cup call-up.

Here are RBNY's top performer's from Sunday's triumph:

Bradley Wright-Phillips (FWD, 13 points): BWP scored in the 4th and 52nd minutes to sink NYCFC.  He almost converted his brace into a hat trick late in the game, but Josh Saunders came up big to spoil his bid.  He was a menace all game long and gave the NYCFC back line all they could handle.

Lloyd Sam (MID, 11 points): Sam was able to get up and down the right flank most of the game without an issue.  Sam showed great vision to find BWP on his goal, then Sacha Klejstan in open space for the other.  He also provided two additional attacking bonus points and one on the defending end.

Sacha Klejstan (MID, 7 points): There were a few articles circulating about the comparison between Klejstan and Mix Diskerud.  Klejstan showed that he was more potent on the offensive and defensives ends than Mix.  Klejstan received the same bonus points that Sam did, and provided the assist on BWP's second goal.

"Not" Top Performer:

Matt Miazga (DEF, -2 points): Miazga let his inexperience get the best of him, after collecting two yellows in 36 minutes.  He will now (more than likely) be unavailable through June 20 since he is suspended for RBNY's next game against FC Dallas, then leaves for the U20 World Cup following that. Ronald Zubar's return to the lineup would seem to be certain.
