Sky Blue FC are sending another two players to the World Cup. Australia has officially called up Sky Blue forward Samantha Kerr and Caitlin Foord. The two have been with Australia for the last 4 months as Australia trained and prepared for the World Cup, Both will be going to their second World Cup at the ages of 21 and 20 respectively. They join US call ups Kelly O'Hara and Christine Rampone, along with Canadian Forward Jonelle Filigno. Monica Ocampo is currently with the Mexican team but has yet to announce their official roster.
Kerr is a new addition who was acquired in an off-season trade with the Western New York Flash. She came from the Flash to join Foord, who also played with Kerr on the Perth Glory in the W-League and is a good friend. Foord is in her third year with Sky Blue and has made 36 appearances and 35 starts. While neither have played for Sky Blue this season, they have both been watching from afar with Foord and Kerr tweeting their support despite what seems like hellish time difference.
Home opener for my @SkyBlueFC teammates today! Hope a few of you can get down 2 Yurcak stadium to support them! Goodluck friends #WeAreNJ

Australia has a home sendoff series against Vietnam, who narrowly missed qualifying for the World Cup themselves by a goal to Thailand in a play-off. The Matildas are 5-1 so far in 2015 with notable wins against neighbor New Zealand and North Korea while their lone loss was to England. The team was also drawn into what has been dubbed the Group of Death featuring the US, Sweden, and Nigeria. Their opening match is against the US on Monday June 8th.
Once A Metro offers our full congratulations to the two players for their call up and wish them good luck on all matches besides the one on June 8th and any other United States based implications.
