Bradley Wright-Phillips won a Team of the Week selection and MLS's Player of the Week for his performance against New York City FC in Week 10. Could he also win the Goal of the Week vote?
No. He could not.
BWP's opening goal of the inaugural New York Derby attracted...um...4.36% of the vote. This was...er...the lowest total accumulated by any of the nominees.
Portland Timbers' Diego Valeri won 33.27% of the vote and this week's top spot.
Decent.
In the meantime, if you were one of the (very) few to throw down a click for BWP: congratulations, you are part of an extremely select group. Hold each other close. We'll get this figured out at some point this season.
For now, BWP and the New York Red Bulls remain without a Goal of the Week win in 2015.
Lloyd Sam finished second in Week 1; Mike Grella finished second in Week 4; now BWP has finished not-second (or first, or third, or fourth) in Week 10.
