Buy 'Em or Bag 'Em Week 12: Union Reunion

For the first time this season, RBNY will host the Philly Union

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Roster change deadline: Wednesday May 20, 8:00pm ET

Amount of Free Transfers this week: 2

On May 24, the New York Red Bulls will host one of their I-95 rivals, the Philadelphia Union.  This is the first of three meetings for RBNY.  It could be a quality game: RBNY tied the best team in the West and Philly beat the best team in the East this past weekend.  Both teams will look to continue their unbeaten streaks on Sunday evening.

If you have the cash, I recommend to buy Bradley Wright-Phillips.   He currently has 5 goals and 3 assists through 10 games. And he didn't register one against FC Dallas, so he's due for another goal or assist.

Another recommendation is to grab as many of the RBNY midfielders as possible, especially the attacking ones.  The Philly Union has given up a league-high 21 goals this season.  Not only is that the most in the league, but the three other teams ranked second have only conceded 15 goals, so Philly is in the lead by a large margin.  Lloyd Sam, Sacha Kljestan, Felipe Martins and Dax McCarty could all be in a good position to rack up points.

For my bags, let's start off with obvious ones to make sure you have a clean team.  Get Sal Zizzo (broken tibia; out at least 6 more weeks) and Matt Miazga (U20 World Cup; out possibly another month) off your squad.  They will be of no help to you and take up needed cap space.

Lastly, a good news-bad news area is the RBNY defense.  They earned their third clean sheet of the season last week, so they may keep the same back line as they had against FCD.  However, Philly is pretty bad, so Jesse Marsch may try to change it up so other guys on the team get some playing time. This could be a sore spot for your fantasy team.

I could see Ronald Zubar make his first appearance since going down with a hamstring injury in Week 1.  Also, Andrew Jean-Baptiste is another viable option at CB.  And Connor Lade could give Chris Duvall a break.  Too many possibilities, so start bagging defensemen.  Kemar Lawrence and Damien Perrinelle seem to be the best bets, but nothing is certain until 45 minutes before the game.
