Bulls Abroad: Matt Miazga Goes 90 Minutes in USMNT Win

The RBNY youngster goes the distance in U20 World Cup tune-up

USA TODAY Sports

New York Red Bulls defenseman, Matt Miazga, played a full 90 minutes to help the U20 USMNT defeat Australia 2-1 in Gosford, Australia.  The US found themselves behind after a 15th minute goal to the home team, but scored twice in a 45-second span to take the game in the second half.  Miazga was part of a defense that was able to lock it down for the final 75 minutes of the game.

The US got their goals from Joel Soñora (assisted by San Jose Earthquakes' forward, Tommy Thompson) in the 60th, and Maki Tall in the 61st.  The game's statistics were very even, except the lopsided 13-to-7 shots advantage in favor of the US. The game was significant for the future of US soccer since Arsenal youngster, Gedion Zelalem made his US debut in the 59th minute.
