DC United screw up gives New York Red Bulls U23s forfeit win

One point turns into three.

The New York Red Bulls U23s originally started their PDL season 1-0-1. They tied the D.C. United U23s on Sunday after Sean Sheridan (Villanova/Red Bulls Academy) converted a penalty kick in the 86th minute.

However, the Premier Development League has ruled that D.C. United forfeited the match due to using an unregistered player. The Red Bulls are credited with a 3-0 win and D.C. United have been docked 3 points.

Here are the current PDL Mid-Atlantic Division standings after the latest point adjustment.

The Red Bulls are in first place and D.C. United is in last. Looks pretty good to me. Let's take the time to appreciate our front office's skill with paperwork and laugh at teams that aren't so fortunate.

The U23s play Lehigh Valley United Sonic on Sunday, May 24th at the Training Facility in Hanover, New Jersey.
