The Philadelphia Union shocked the New York Red Bulls and the entire MLS community with a 2-0 win in Harrison. RBNY didn't have anything going for them all game long and Philly was able to find the chink in the armor at the right times. The one highlight for RBNY came when Mike Grella put three nice moves on in a row right on the end line, then hit the post on his shot.
This is where I normally detail who the best performers for the team were, but no player had over three points. So here are your 3-point scorers:
Luis Robles - GK: Robles didn't get any help from his defensemen on the two goals, but only registered one save in his efforts.
Chris Duvall - DEF: Duvall has made an appearance on this list for the first time this season. He actually did a decent job on the offensive end, registering three crosses to create scoring chances.
All four midfielders: Normally we talk about how well the three-headed monster worked together and how speedy and dangerous Lloyd Sam was in spurring the attack. Didn't happen that way this time. There was a lot of selfish play, which led to turnovers and the midfield left the defense high and dry on the counter.
Bradley Wright-Phillips - FWD: BWP wasn't getting the chances he was used to at the beginning of the season. He had one great chance which was luckily kicksaved by the Union keeper during the second half.
The Red Bulls have a tough task ahead of them this weekend when they travel to Seattle.
