The New York Red Bulls U23s lost their first match of 2015, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Ocean City Nor'easters. Steven Echevarria (Red Bulls Academy/Wake Forest) scored the opening goal off a rebound in the 41st minute. The Nor'easters responded with three straight goals from John Manga, Harry Swartz, and Matthew Vasquenza.

The Red Bulls outshot the Nor'easters, 6-4, and held the advantage on corners, 10-2.

The Nor'easters previously defeated the U23s, 2-0, in the second round of the 2013 edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Current New York Red Bulls and New York Red Bulls II fullback Shawn McLaws played for the Nor'easters in 2013 and 2014 scoring 5 goals.

The U23s are 3-1 on the season. Last year's team went 14-0 during the NPSL regular season and stormed through the playoffs en route to winning the NPSL Championship, dropping their only match to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the U.S. Open Cup. These are the current standings in the Premier Development League's Mid Atlantic Division.

The New York Red Bulls U23s play the Baltimore Bohemians on Wednesday, June 3rd at the Red Bull Training Facility.
