How to watch Mexico vs Guatemala International Friendly: TV, Online Live Streaming

Busy summer ahead for Mexico with the Copa America and the Gold Cup.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Mexico begins to prepare for the Copa America and the Gold Cup with a friendly against Guatemala at the Estadio Zoque Victor Manuel Reyna in Chiapas, Mexico.

Mexico coach Miguel Herrera said that he will be bringing two almost completely different teams to the two continental championships. The Copa America squad will be playing against Guatemala (obviously). Mexico regularly feature in Copa America and are sending a "B" side this time that is less experienced and features four Europe-based players. Herrera is prioritizing the Gold Cup due to the Confederations Cup qualification possibilities it presents, and the squad for that competition will feature Mexican mainstays Javier "Chicharito Hernandez, Giovani and Jonathan dos Santos, Andres Guardado, Carlos Vela, Hector Herrera, and Guillermo Ochoa.

Their Copa America group includes Bolivia (June 12th), tournament hosts Chile (June 15th), and Ecuador (June 19th). Mexico's Gold Cup group features Cuba (July 9th), Guatemala (July 12th), and Trinidad and Tobago (July 15th).

Former New York Red Bulls player Rafa Marquez made the Copa America roster. He was the captain for Mexico during four World Cups. The 36-year-old defender and midfielder currently plays for Hellas Verona in Serie A. Marquez has enjoyed a bit of a career renaissance in Italy and is still relied on by Herrera to provide a veteran presence in the defense.

Guatemala, led by Ivan Sopegno, are on a four-match winless streak. Midfielder Marco Pappa of the Seattle Sounders declined a call up. However, former Los Angeles Galaxy, FC Dallas, Toronto FC, and Philadelphia Union striker Carlos Ruiz is on the roster. The 35-year-old has 112 caps and 57 goals for Guatemala.
